Winona Laura Horowitz professionally known in the media as Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her Winona in honor of the town she grew up in. The father of her Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder's father is from an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder thinks she's Jewish.
