Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is an American woman of business. she is currently president and controlling shareholder of the Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association. Buss is the daughter of a California native, and was raised by an affluent family. The father of her Jerry Buss was a real-estate tycoon who later became the proprietor of the Lakers and other businesses related to sports. In 1972, her parents separated in divorce and she was left feeling emotionally abandoned. At the age of 19 she was able to take over the Los Angeles Strings professional Tennis team as the General Manager. Later, she founded the Los Angeles Blades roller hockey professional team. Before she became vice president of the Lakers, she served as president of the Great Western Forum. Buss was the inheritor of Lakers ownership Lakers through her father's estate in the year 2013.
